Microsoft ActiveSync

There is a known problem with the upgrade to SynQ 2.5 or higher regarding PDAs (personal digital assistants) running Microsoft ActiveSync 4.2 and PCs running SynQ 2.4.x or lower. After an item is modified in Microsoft Outlook, synchronization appears to complete without any errors; however, the event is not actually copied to the handheld device. Due to this problem, you might encounter the following window if you have ActiveSync 4.2 installed with SynQ 2.4.x or lower and you upgrade to SynQ 2.5 or higher:

Then when you click the Attention required link, the following dialog box displays:

Workaround: In order to upgrade from SynQ 2.4.x or lower to SynQ 2.5 or higher and ensure that ActiveSync continues to work properly, complete the following steps:

  1. Before installing SynQ 2.5 or higher, synchronize your PDA with your PC.
  2. Disconnect the PDA from your PC.
  3. Within ActiveSync Manager, select File > Delete Mobile Device.
  4. Upgrade to SynQ 2.5 or higher.
  5. Reconnect your PDA. ActiveSync Manager will detect the newly reconnected device and prompt you to do a simple configuration.
  6. Follow the onscreen configuration instructions.
Important: If you select File > Delete Mobile Device after the SynQ add-in is installed, items (events, tasks and contacts) modified after SynQ 2.5 or higher was installed but before the device-deletion operation was completed might get duplicated.
